Most people think selling begins when you present an offer, send an invoice, or ask someone to buy. But by that point, the sale has already started.

It started with how well you understood the person in front of you. It started with the questions you asked.

It started with whether you were listening simply to respond—or listening to understand what that customer was actually trying to achieve.

That thinking sits at the heart of The Code of Sales™, a 30-day sales activation experience developed by Create Your Freedom™ to help entrepreneurs and professionals become more intentional about how they approach selling.

Because selling isn’t simply about getting someone to say yes.

It’s about understanding why that yes should make sense in the first place.

Before the Pitch, There Is Discovery

One of the easiest mistakes to make in sales is assuming we already know what the customer needs.

Someone tells you what they want, and immediately you begin thinking about what you can sell them.

But what they ask for and what they are actually trying to accomplish are not always the same thing.

A customer might ask for a particular service because that is the only solution they know exists.

Your responsibility isn’t simply to fulfill the request.

Your responsibility is to understand the outcome behind the request.

What are they trying to change?

What problem are they trying to solve?

What would success look like to them?

Sometimes the biggest sales opportunity appears only after you stop trying to sell long enough to actually listen.

Map the Outcome, Not Just the Request

This is where selling becomes more strategic.

Before creating the invoice, proposal or recommendation, you should be able to answer a simple question:

What transformation is this customer actually trying to achieve?

When you understand that, the conversation changes.

You’re no longer simply offering a product or service.

You’re connecting what you provide to an outcome that matters to the customer.

And that makes your recommendation more relevant, your value easier to communicate and the customer’s decision easier to understand.

Sales Is Also About Who You Choose to Serve

Another important part of selling is recognizing that your offer isn’t necessarily for everybody.

Knowing your ideal customer helps you communicate more clearly, ask better questions and recognize the problems you’re best positioned to solve.

Instead of trying to convince everyone, you become more intentional about identifying the people and organizations that are most likely to benefit from what you provide.

That clarity affects everything—from your message to your outreach to the conversations you have with potential customers.

Listen for What Isn’t Being Said

Good sales conversations require more than hearing words.

They require curiosity.

A customer may describe a symptom without understanding the underlying problem.

They may know what isn’t working but struggle to explain why.

They may even request one solution when a completely different approach would better support their goal.

That’s why questions matter.

That’s why listening matters.

And that’s why at Create Your Freedom™, we believe in diagnosing before prescribing.

The objective isn’t to push the biggest solution.

It’s to understand enough to recommend the right one.

That’s the Code

The Code of Sales™ isn’t built around chasing people until they buy.

It’s about developing the discipline to sell with greater intention.

Understand who you’re serving.

Ask better questions.

Listen beyond the request.

Identify the desired outcome.

Then connect your solution to something the customer genuinely needs.

And that’s only the beginning.

The Code of Sales™ is a 30-day journey built around Reveal, Reach, Revenue and Repeat—turning sales from something you occasionally attempt into something you intentionally practice.

 Learn. Execute. Repeat.
